Somatic Embodiment & Therapeutic Movement Session

Somatic Embodiment & Therapeutic Movement Sessions are deeply conscious, body-based sessions supporting nervous system regulation, emotional release and reconnection with the body’s natural intelligence.

My work combines over 30 years of experience in dance, 16 years of teaching contemporary dance, and a strong professional foundation as a Health Education and Prevention Pedagogue, with academic training in the therapeutic aspects of dance and movement.

This is not a fitness class or choreography. It is therapeutic, trauma-informed, embodied work, guided with precision, sensitivity and deep understanding of the body - mind connection.

What happens during a session?

Each session is individual and adapted to your current physical, emotional and energetic state.

The work may include:

  • conscious, somatic movement

  • breath awareness and regulation

  • meditative movement and embodied presence

  • bioenergetic body awareness

  • gentle release of chronic tension and holding patterns

  • body-based diagnosis of stress, emotional and energetic blockages

Through attentive observation and embodied dialogue with the body, we identify where tension, restriction or disconnection is held - often beyond conscious awareness.

Body diagnosis & blockages

With my background as a health pedagogue and therapeutic movement practitioner, I work with body reading and diagnosis, observing:

  • posture and movement patterns

  • breathing quality

  • areas of chronic tension or collapse

  • stress and trauma imprints in the body

  • emotional and energetic blockages stored in tissues

The body always tells the truth.

We work with it respectfully, safely and without forcing.

Benefits of the sessions:

Clients often experience:

  • improved nervous system regulation

  • reduced stress, anxiety and chronic tension

  • deeper connection with the body and emotions

  • increased vitality and embodied presence

  • release of stored emotions and trauma patterns

  • improved posture, breathing and movement ease

  • greater self-awareness and self-regulation

  • feeling grounded, centred and more “at home” in the body

This work supports both mental and physical wellbeing, as well as personal and spiritual integration.

Why work with me?

What makes my work unique is the integration of:

  • 30 years of embodied dance experience

  • 16 years of teaching contemporary dance

  • academic background in health education and prevention

  • university research on therapeutic movement and dance

  • deep understanding of somatic, bioenergetic and embodied processes

I work with the body not as an object to fix, but as an intelligent system carrying memory, emotion and wisdom.

Dance... My Passion!

"Dance, Dance, otherwise we are lost"

[Pina Bausch]

Dance is my life's passion and a path I've followed professionally for over 27 years. I have 16 years of experience teaching contemporary dance, ballet, and contact improvisation, as well as creating choreography. I had the honor of co-creating the content of a festival of contemporary dance forms and serving on the jury, which allowed me to view dance from multiple perspectives. I'm also a dancer of 5 Rhythms and Argentine tango.

I have been involved in spirituality and healing for 25 years. In 2000, I obtained my Reiki Master Diploma, combining a holistic approach to body, mind, and spirit with dance teaching.

Working with breath, body awareness, and energetics is the foundation upon which I build my methodology. I believe that spirituality in dance can be a beautiful tool supporting the technical and creative development of dancers and choreographers.

For me, dance is not only art but also therapy, a space for emotion and profound expression. I am moved by contemporary performances that touch the most sensitive chords of human sensitivity.

Art, especially dance, has a unique vibration for me and can transform not only individuals but entire communities.

In my work, I combine knowledge of consciousness, spirituality, and the energetics of the body with dance practice, both in teaching dance technique and in creating choreography. My goal is to support dancers in achieving full integration of body, mind, and spirit, so that they can develop as happy and conscious creators.

My Artistic Path in Dance

dance

I am an experienced contemporary dance teacher, choreographer, and creator of innovative methods that combine dance with spirituality. My professional path is based on over 25 years of dance practice and 16 years of teaching experience.

I completed a bachelor's degree in health pedagogy and social prevention, focusing on the therapeutic use of dance in education. My thesis was titled: "Therapeutic Use of Dance by Educators: An Example of My Own Research." I also earned a diploma in contemporary dance , defending a thesis titled: "Modern and Postmodern Dance and Their Influence on Contemporary Dance in Poland."

My experience includes working with theatres, dance schools and artistic institutions in Poland and London.

I create choreographies for festivals, competitions, and theater performances, leading classes and workshops for dancers of all levels.

I specialize in contemporary dance and movement improvisation, and my teaching is holistic—combining technical precision with exploration of emotion, body awareness, and the spiritual dimension of movement. I am deeply inspired by the opportunity to collaborate with universities and colleges around the world that are exploring innovative approaches to dance and education.

Dance & Spirituality

For me, dance and spirituality are two worlds that complement and enrich each other. I've been dancing for 26 years and exploring spirituality for 24. I've never been able to choose which path is more important to me, as both are integral parts of my life. As a Reiki master, spiritual therapist, and spiritualist, I combine various spiritual healing techniques with my passion for dance, which gives me the unique opportunity to work with the body and energy in a profoundly transformative way.

Spirituality brings a new perception and awareness to my dance—allowing me to see it as a creative form, full of expression and profound meaning. In turn, dance, through movement and improvisation, gives me a tool to integrate this knowledge and experience physically. Contemporary dance, the five rhythms, Argentine tango—these forms of movement become meditation in action for me, as well as a space for personal transformation. By combining dance with spirituality, I discover a completely new dimension of creativity and teaching, in which every movement has profound meaning, and every step leads to greater harmony.

Dance & spirituality

It is a journey to full integration of body, mind and spirit that opens the door to new possibilities, both on a personal and creative level.

Heart Coherence in Dance Education - Influence on Dance Creation and Creativity

Sacred Dance - Joanna Ciurkowska

Cardiac coherence is a state in which the heart rhythm synchronizes with other body systems, leading to internal harmony. Research conducted by the HeartMath Institute shows that achieving cardiac coherence has a significant impact on emotions, concentration , and creative abilities. In the context of dance education, cardiac coherence can transform how students experience the creative process and how they create and perform dance.

In dance teaching, heart coherence helps increase body and spatial awareness, allows for better synchronization with a dance partner and in a group, and enhances empathy and mutual understanding between teacher and student. Research shows that through practices that enhance heart coherence, such as meditation or breathing techniques , students can improve the quality of their dancing , become more open to expressing emotions , and become more aware of their bodies. Additionally, in the process of choreographing, heart coherence can support creative thinking and better perception.

Dancers who practice techniques that support heart coherence are more likely to experience "flow"—a state of complete concentration and engagement in their actions. This, in turn, leads to higher quality creative work, both in the creation of dances and in their performance.

HeartMath Institute research confirms that heart coherence supports emotional and psychological balance and enables better stress management, which is crucial in the intensive process of teaching and creating dance art. This harmony allows dancers and dance educators to work in a more integrated manner, enhancing the effectiveness of dance education and creativity.
